Answers to what we get asked the most.

-
What is hyperzero?
A small label out of Germany making apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Each app does one thing — as well as it can. Fairly priced, no trackers, no ads. A publisher, not a corporation: designed, built and supported by one person.
-
Who is behind hyperzero?
A single individual based in the Ruhr Valley. A designer, not a developer — running concept, design, code and support in parallel. The legally responsible person is listed in the imprint.
-
Why don't hyperzero apps have subscriptions?
Some do. Where an app is finished after the purchase (e.g. Verso), you pay once and own it. Where ongoing costs apply — servers, OCR, sync (e.g. Quitto) — there is a subscription. The price follows what the app actually needs, not what the market currently treats as normal.
-
Which apps does hyperzero make?
At the moment, three:
- Verso — minimalist document scanner for iPhone and iPad. → versoscan.app
- Quitto — receipts and expenses for the German tax return. → quittoapp.de
- Tasto — menu bar utility for the Mac: Finder keys the way Windows taught you. → hyperzero.de/en/tasto
More apps will follow. They ship when they are ready. The list lives at /en/apps.
-
Are hyperzero apps free?
Mostly not. Some apps have a limited free mode for trying things out — a few scans or receipts before a purchase decision is needed. After that: one-time payment or subscription, depending on the app. The exception is Tasto: free as a direct download — pay what you want, €0 included.
-
Why isn't Tasto in the App Store?
Because the Mac App Store's sandbox rules don't allow apps that intercept keystrokes system-wide — which is exactly what Tasto does. So Tasto ships as a direct download: signed, notarized by Apple, delivered through Gumroad. Everything else stays the same — no tracking, no ads.
-
What does "fairly priced" mean?
The price matches the value. Where an app is finished after the purchase, you pay once. Where ongoing costs apply — server sync, OCR compute, storage — there is a subscription. No artificial pressure, no hidden fees, no dark patterns at checkout.
-
Do hyperzero apps track my data?
No. No analytics SDKs, no advertising IDs, no third-party trackers. Where an app needs cloud data (e.g. for sync or server-side OCR), it says so in the privacy policy of that specific app — transparently and minimally.
-
Do hyperzero apps work offline?
It depends on the app. Where possible: yes. Verso, for instance, scans entirely offline on your iPhone, and Tasto works on your Mac without internet. Apps with sync or cloud features need a connection for those features — everything else runs locally.
-
Are hyperzero apps available on Android?
Not at the moment. The focus is the Apple ecosystem — iPhone, iPad and Mac. That's where you can go deeper (iCloud, Widgets, Shortcuts, VisionKit, Share Sheet). Never say never, but for the foreseeable future it stays that way.
-
How do I contact support?
By email at hello@hyperzero.de. The reply comes from the same person who built the app — usually within one or two working days.
-
Where is hyperzero based?
In Germany, more precisely: in the Ruhr Valley (Essen). The full address, tax details and the responsible person under § 18 MStV are listed in the imprint.
-
How often do new apps appear?
As often as they are ready — sometimes more, sometimes less. No promises, no quarterly targets. An app only ships when it sits.
